After listening to the "Journey On" assignment, I experienced the ability to change sensations in my arms and legs from what was considered normal to me to what felt like heaviness, and this was quite interesting. Just the idea of the mind giving commands to body parts and those body parts responding to those precise commands with immediate response was quite fascinating.
I wanted to find out more about this autogenic training technique. It is actually a type of therapy that was developed in the 1930's for relaxation and stress reduction in an effort to stimulate natural healing in the body. It has also been used to reduce anxiety, manage pain, reduce fatigue, and lower irritability (WebMD, 2011). I'm also reading that in order to master Autogenic Training (AT), you need to do it regularly, and then because you always have it with you, you can use it anywhere at anytime. How convenient is that?? This seems like it would be a nice personal tool to have around.

Hello Barbara,
Even though I had a blog for a previous class, I was still unsure how to make another. I forgot everything! Your blog looks very nice. I love the fish tank! How did you get it?
Hi,
I noticed that experiencing this heaviness and warmth was not even hard to do. I just thought it, and it happened. I assumed I would have to stress myself to accomplish this. Thank you for posting more information, a link, and reference. I will look at it once I am done here.
Hello Barb. I loved your post and your blog. I too am a life-long learner. Energy and the flow of energy interests me also. I love to research all sorts of things. At my work, our cancer institute works with imagery and meditation with their patients. They have amazing outcomes.
There was a very interesting study conducted on Autogenic Training (AT) that I found fascintating. Autogenic training (AT) is a type of meditation usually used for reducing stress. This pilot study describes how AT was used on a group of early stage cancer patients and the observed effect on stress-related behaviours and immune system responses.
It concluded that AT helped increase the immune response in the patient.

Natalie, thank you so much for your link to additional information. I will be taking a look at that. It does appear to me that AT would be a valuable tool to have available when working with clients.
Hi Amber, thanks for stopping by. The fish tank was a 'gadget' from a list of gadgets that were available. I was not interested in any of the others. I was in design mode and started clicking on some of the sections, and there is was. Have some fun and take a look at things while in design mode.
Well Hello Barb, I must repeat myself, you have a beautiful blog set up. I had one heck of a time trying to get here but taaa-da, here I am. I also fed your fish so they are either over fed or fed for the day. I also took the Journey but due to a major life change I could not focus and it did not work for me. I do know that imagery, meditation, yoga and everything else works because I had 2 other classes in reference to alternative medicine and we did similar exercises. If I am not mistaken I think you were in one or both of them. I will continue to follow your blog so keep up the excellent work.
